The Final Test

Yes, we've done just about every gender myth test (except the needle over the belly one) but there was only one test that would really matter...Layla! We have been trying to ask her what she thinks we're having, but it's been hard to read her. So I had two pieces of scrapbook paper, a blue one with "boy" cut out and a pink one with "girl" cut out. We showed her the two papers and asked her to pick. First she picked girl, but then I switched hands and she picked boy. We did this about 7 times. She tended to pick the one that was in my right hand mostly, but she did pick girl more. I thought she would want a boy. I figured she didn't want to share the title of "Daddy's Little Girl" with anyone else.

TOMORROW!

I cannot believe tomorrow is almost here! After our 4:40 pm appointment, I will know if I'm going to be the mommy to a boy or girl! That is just insane! I really don't have a clue as to what we're having. I've had moments when I've thought I was having either, but my girl vibe has been stronger. Regardless, after tomorrow we'll know some things for certain....

If it's a girl......

• We have some names we kinda, sort of agree on
• We will have arguments about what color to paint the baby room (Tom says NO pink)
• Tom will already start to worry about the dating years!
• Layla will have to share her princess title in the house

If it's a boy....

• I can look forward to getting peed on
• We have to start the name search - we're lost on boy names
• I can prepare for the future when my son will be the #1 pick in the NFL draft and buy me my dream house in Italy
• Baby room decorating will be MUCH easier - stars & moon or underwater themes
• Layla retains her princess title

Wanda Update #2

So after a vigorous play session, Wanda became a double amputee! Then stuffing started coming out, so I pulled it out. Then we realized we took out Wanda's voice (squeaker part). It was just stuffing and carnage everywhere! So unfortunately, I have to report that Wanda has gone to Stuffed Animal Heaven. :( She will be greatly missed....

Excitement

Did I tell you that I cannot wait for Friday? Not only will we hopefully find out if the baby is a boy or girl but we get a new ultrasound picture! No more Baby Dot on the frig, but rather something that resembles a baby! YEAH!

Tom even mentioned how after this appointment, we have all the big stuff to start working on: 1) the name 2) room repairs 3) decor 4) registering...what fun!

CANNOT WAIT!

4 months

It's fun to officially say "I am four months along now!" A new number is always fun. And more exciting is that my ultrasound is less than a week away! I cannot wait! Especially since last night I dreamt that when we did the ultrasound, they found 3 babies!! Two girls and a boy! So now I'm worried there are more babies in my belly than I thought!

In other news, I may have felt the baby move on Friday. I'm not sure but it's the closest thing to what the book describes.

Lastly, on Thursday Tom and I went out to dinner. My belly was so full I wanted him to feel it, especially how my belly button is really stretched tight at the top. So I lifted up my shirt and Tom said, "Wow! You really look pregnant now!" and I just didn't have the warm fuzzy feeling I was expecting. Tom said he meant that he felt my belly should have been looking bigger and now it finally was. Nice cover.

Wanda Update

Today Wanda's leg was amputated by Layla. Wanda seems to still be okay, but it's sort of touch and go from here on out...

And all you boy votes - name yourself! I have only heard 2 people tell me they think it's a boy, so why do I have 8 votes? Come forward! :)

Week 17

Well, I can't believe I have only 1 more week until I can officially say I'm 4 months pregnant (but that means I'm in my 5th month) and less than 2 weeks until we figure out if Baby Haskins is a boy or a girl!

The masses have been clamoring for an updated belly picture and some number updates. I recorded my weight in the morning and night, same with belly circumference. Apparently get a little food in me and I grow!

Weight: between + 4.5 - 8.5 lbs

Belly: between + 2.5 - 5 inches

P.S. This is certainly not a flattering belly pic but I wore a tighter top so you could more accurately see the belly. And I may have just eaten half a bag of chips and salsa, so that may have added to the roundness!

Layla and Wanda

So last week when we were out shopping at Petco, my mom (or Grandma as Layla calls her) picked up a toy for Layla. She thought it sort of looked like a stork and brought it home for her. Layla, loving every toy, was so excited with the new addition to her collection. My mom explained to Layla that this is Wanda the Stork and she is going to bring a baby to our house in September. Layla didn't really know what to make of it, but she sure loves Wanda. Here's the two of them chillin'.

Songs

So, if my song during the pregnancy is Three Little Bird by Bob Marley, Tom and I decided that Layla's song is Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. NOT that we are going to forget about her, as everyone feels the need to say, but more because of how she is always trying to wiggle in between us when we are snuggling on the couch.

1 Month Countdown (what will you be??)

So, I've been extremely nervous to see the doctor. I just keep worrying about everything...having a miscarriage does that to you. So I've been singing "don't worry, about a thing, because everything, is gonna be alright" like 4 times a day to the baby. Well, turns out, everything is alright - YEAH! This time, it took half a second to find the heartbeat, which was so nice and reassuring. Still in "girl heart beat range" but a little lower - 157. The nurse said she could hear the baby flip 2 times! This led to 2 thoughts: 1) Man, this baby's going to be kicking me a lot and 2) it must be a boy, because my little girl would just be lounging like her mama. So I'm undecided about gender again, but I won't have to wait for long....the doctor said I come back on May 1st and we find out!! YES! I'm so excited. I'll hopefully put up a poll soon about the gender so you can vote.

OH, and the nurse said I haven't gained any weight yet...how is that possible????
